Herbals, also called tisanes, are infusions using any plant except Camellia sinensis and they come from almost every country on the globe. Herbs have been used since the dawn of man for various reasons, mostly health related. Since herbals come from an infinite number of plant sources they have an endless range of flavors and health benefits. Some, like chamomile, are light and floral while others, like hibiscus, are bright and tart.
Many have positive digestive qualities. Some have calming effects. Many herbals, such as elderflower and lemongrass, act as natural antihistamines and reduce inflammation in the body. Others, like ginger and mint, aid in digestion by increasing the flow of digestive juices. Rooibos is known to be rich in antioxidants and minerals. The list goes on.
Herbals are so wonderful in that they are absolutely delicious AND they’re good for you.
